Take That Shine With Golden Square

Golden Square worked around the clock in order to finish post work on 'Shine' Take That’s second single taken from their multi platinum selling album, Beautiful World in time for Channel 4’s exclusive screening.
Tipped to be another number 1 hit, Director Justin Dickel’s vision for the new video involved recreating the atmosphere and style of a Busby Berkley musical complete with stairs that reach to the sky and a backdrop of women in outfits ranging from burlesque to fifties swimwear glamour. However, whilst Justin was referencing a very traditional and iconic period he wanted to keep the styling fresh and modern. To achieve this look, a lot of post-production was needed, giving the 50’s musical style a space age edge as well as incredibly vibrant colours.
Heavy post work included extending the set, stairs and backdrop in 3D in almost every shot, comping all backgrounds, as well as adding the starry sky and fireworks. Golden Square also created entire shots such as one involving a kaleidoscopic, spacey journey through red neon hoops that we then discover are being held by the glamorous cabaret girls.
Take That sold over 25 million records around the world in the 1990’s. On reforming last year Mark Owen said: "It's great for us all to be writing together for the first time, we want to make a great record, the best record we've ever made." "Their best songs and albums are yet to come," added Polydor co-president David Joseph.
