Broadcast RF Celebrate The Diamond Jubilee In Style

The Queen celebrated her reign of six decades with a spectacular weekend of horseracing, river pageants, concerts and of course the service at St Pauls with the procession back to the Palace.
Millions of viewers watched a whole weekend of Jubilee celebrations. Broadcast RF were present at every Jubilee event and had a major impact on the television coverage provided for all major broadcasters (BBC/Sky/ITN/ITV).
Sunday 3rd June - River Pageant:
For the fantastic spectacle of the River Pageant Broadcast RF provided and engineered the majority of wireless video links on the shores of the river Thames, while the on-board coverage from the boats was provided by SiS Live. Broadcast RF had a heavy presence at Chelsea Harbour (with Arena TV), Battersea Park (with Telegenic and Arqiva) and HMS Belfast (with NEP Visions). This event was slightly hampered by the famous British weather, but that neither affected the RF coverage nor the cheerful mood of the hundreds of thousands of spectators that had gathered along the river. Boats from the UK, commonwealth and around the world took to the Thames for the route from Chelsea to Tower Bridge with the Royal Barge taking centre stage.
Monday 4th June - BBC Concert:
3 x HD Wireless Cameras were provided and engineered for the very impressive concert which the BBC produced with some of the largest names in music topping the bill. The RF cameras were used mainly in and around the stage, and were used at every opportunity. The concert set was built up around the Queen Victoria Memorial against the spectacular backdrop of Buckingham Palace which was illuminated in some amazing graphics never seen before at the Palace. Madness took to the roof of the house, and other major musicians such as Tom Jones, Elton John and Sir Paul McCartney performed in front of the Queen and her family. The show concluded with a firework display to top all firework displays with over 5000 fireworks exploding above the Palace in less than five minutes.
Tuesday 5th June - St Pauls Service and Procession:
38 x RF systems were provided along the route of the procession for Tuesdays extravaganza. Broadcast RF had RF equipment and technical expertise at Wellington Barracks, Canada Gate, Trafalgar Square, Admiralty Arch, Whitehall, Guildhall, St Pauls, Fleet Street and the Strand for the Queens route to and from the service at St Pauls. Thousands took to the streets of London to wave the Queen by as she and the Royals went by. The day culminated with an appearance by the Queen and other senior royals on the balcony for the flypast, which had been in doubt due to the threat of bad weather.
Broadcast RF also had 6 x RF systems on dry hires for Globecast, ITN and ITV that were used for the whole weekend of celebrations. Together with JFMG careful spectrum planning was required as we were using 33 different frequencies, some in more than one location spread over the 2GHz, 3Ghz, 5GHz, 7Ghz and 12Ghz bands.
A truly memorable weekend for the whole nation. Next stop – London 2012!
