E-Mediavision Provides X-View SD16 Series Multiviewers To BSkyB

e-mediavision.com, a leading UK-based innovator of advanced technology solutions for image display and manipulation, has provided the award winning X-View SD16 series Multiviewers to BskyB, for monitoring of live sports, news and studio video signals.
Working in conjunction with BskyB's in-house project team, e-mediavision.com designed, delivered and installed a working solution on time, within budget with little or no disruption to the already operational 24/7 monitoring area. BskyB's existing monitoring area had grown over time to a point where space, power and air conditioning had reached saturation. However with new HD services and increased coverage of a number of sports and news events, it meant there was a need to increase the number of monitors to allow the operators to see all incoming and outgoing feeds.
A traditional monitor stack was out of the question since space was restricted. Working together with BskyB's project team, e-mediavision.com designed a virtual monitor stack comprised of high-resolution flat screen LCD's from JVC and driven by a number of X-View SD series Multiviewers. This allowed the entire monitoring system to be located in a compact space, but was flexible enough to allow operators to reconfigure the wall at will by a simple push button selection control of the X-View Multiviewers.
The X-View Multiviewers provided auto detection of analogue or SDI based signals, which was ideal for the application since it would not always be possible to know in advance if the incoming feed was to be in analogue or digital. The X-View Multiviewers also provided in-picture audio metering of four audio channels per input, together with dynamic UMD and tally. The distribution of the high-resolution SXGA output to the main LCD display screens was simple and cost effective through use of the e-mediavision.com's X-Tools extender range.
Control of the entire monitoring wall and X-view Multiviewers is provided by Ethernet control via the X-view's built-in web server application. This allowed the operators to easily select any of the 120 user layout patterns on each multiviewer, as well as being able to provide a real time monitoring and status of the Multiviewers and signal alarm conditions. e-mediavision.com further enhanced the system by providing a customised software based control panel which mimicked a real push button controller, allowing use by staff with little or no training.
e-mediavision.com's installation team worked around the existing operational monitoring facility to ensure minimal disruption to BskyB's on-going existing monitoring operations and provided a seamless switchover to the new monitoring wall.
Kash Acharya, Managing Director at e-mediavision.com said: "We were delighted to work with BskyB in providing an advanced technology solution with our award- winning X-View Multiviewers.
