Red Bee Appoints John Phipps As Director Of Sales

Red Bee Media has appointed John Phipps to the new role of Director of Sales.
Phipps will lead a team encompassing client services and business development of playout, access services and new media both in the UK and globally.
Phipps has nearly 30 years sales experience in the media and broadcasting market, both in the UK, EMEA, USA and AsiaPac. In his last role at Harris Software Systems as VP, Sales he built the EMEA software sales team and drove business growth across the region, winning major airtime sales and High Definition projects. Previously he had held senior sales roles at Encoda Systems, Arkemedia Technologies and Tektronix Systems. He was also VP, EMEA at Grass Valley Group.
Red Bee Media has ambitious growth plans and in the last 18 months has acquired the Australian Capture Centre, one of the largest subtitling companies in the world, and bought Broadcastdata Services, which provides the electronic programme listings for most major European broadcasters. Red Bee Media has also expanded into new markets with the launch of Digital Hive and Sherpa and continued to win major deals including playout contracts with Flextech and Five and the rebranding of BBC One and ITV’s network of channels.
