HD Remote Camera from PROKIT

PROKIT now have UK responsibility for importing and distributing a new HD Remote Camera Head System from Iconix.
The multiformat POV camera uses three 1/3” progressive 16:9 CCD imagers inside a compact camera head measuring 3.81cm. x 3.35cm. x 4.88cm and weighing just 64 grams.
It captures images in all common HD resolutions including 1080p/60 or RGB 4:4:4.
The Iconix HD-RH1 is the first true High Definition Point of View 3-CCD camera system to be commercially available as a standard product for broadcasters and other HD based acquisition.
The camera is expected to find popularity with all HD applications where a high premium is placed on size, weight, performance, versatility and price.
In addition to its ability to acquire in 720p and 1080i, frame rates supported include 24, 25, 30, 50 and 60. By using the dual link option, the camera can shoot 1080p/60. The camera also offers 525i/625i and analogue outputs. It uses a 1/3” C-mount to accommodate a variety of HD lenses. The HD-RH1 has a low noise threshold greater than 54db S/N, Y channel.
The compact Controller, measuring 30.5cm. x 21.3cm. x 4.52cm. , remotely controls the head at distances up to 10 metres. It has retractable control knobs on the front panel to allow users to adjust gain, black and white balance and colour, as well as three user-assignable presets. The back panel has SDI, DVI-D and analogue outputs, along with genlock capability. Lens and Iris controls are also available on the panel and can be operated by menu, along with programmable gamma functions and electronic shutter enhancements.
In a bit of a departure, the camera’s three CCD prism leverages an asynchronous signal processing architecture. In most digital cameras, the imager runs at the same rate as the output signal. With the HD-RH1, the CCD runs at a completely different clock rate from the output signal. This allows for cooler running CCDs and more efficient processing, maintaining the highest quality signal.
The FIFA World Cup Tournament saw the first widespread use of the Iconix HD-RH1 camera in Europe. Since then PROKIT has supplied it to cover more goal-mouth incidents, accompanied an abseiler in the Grand Canyon, a concert in The Royal Albert Hall, and reality TV.
The camera is priced at £9,500 + vat. PROKIT is also hiring HD-RH1 kits.
