Channel 4 Launches 4oD On-Demand Service

Channel 4 has launched its 4oD on-demand programme catch-up service.
The service offers access to around 500 of Channel 4's archived programmes for 99 pence per programme and £1.99 for films.
Under the basic rental payment agreement, the downloaded files may be kept until viewed and once viewed expire after 48 hours.
The service was delayed until an overarching agreement was reached with independent producers body, Pact, over the rights to supply the programmes for on-demand viewing.
Channel 4 has signed agreements with around 100 producers including Endemol.
Channel 4 Chief Executive Andy Duncan said: "The launch of 4oD positions Channel 4 at the global cutting edge of the convergence of television and the web - this is the first time a major broadcaster has made all its commissioned content available on demand."
He said that the service demonstrated an "absolute conviction" of the need to make Channel 4's programming available to an audience on whatever format they wished to watch it on.
See the website at www.channel4.com/4oD for further information.
