Red Bee Launches Five Live and Five US On Digital

After winning the contract to playout five’s new digital channels in June this year, Red Bee Media has successfully launched Five Life and Five US across all digital platforms from its Broadcast Centre in West London.
Five Life launched on Sunday, October 15 and will air daily between 6am and 11pm. Five US launched on October 16 and will air daily between 4pm and 1am.
Pam Masters, CEO, Red Bee Media commented: “The Broadcast Centre was opened three years ago in October 2003 to meet broadcasters’ future needs. We have been able to launch five’s new channels in record time and I’m delighted to welcome these channels to our multi-client facility. The Broadcast Centre has the capacity to playout several hundreds of channels using its tapeless architecture and Media Object Management workflow system.”
Red Bee Media now plays out 80 channels and interactive streams from its Broadcast Centre including the BBC, ESPN, Flextech and UKTV channels as well as five’s digital channels.
This playout contract with five is in addition to other services Red Bee Media already provides the broadcaster including disaster recovery, signing and audio description services.
David Burge, five’s Controller of Broadcast Services commented: “We have been pleased with the disaster recovery service Red Bee Media has been providing us with for the last three years and are enjoying working with the company further to deliver our digital strategy.”
