Ray Merrin to receive accolade for services to the audio industry

At The Conch Awards which will take place September 25 the UK Post & Services Association will present Ray Merrin with The Fellowship Award.
The premier award is devised to recognise those who have made an outstanding contribution to the UK audio industry and was chosen by the UK Post & Services audio committee.
Ray Merrin’s career as a re-recording mixer spans over thirty years and includes some of the entertainment industry’s most memorable films including; 'Midnight Express', 'Alien', 'Chariots of Fire', 'The Killing Fields', 'Birdy', 'The Mission', 'Batman', 'Hilary and Jackie', 'Little Voice', the first two Harry Potter films and more than fifty other movies. Ray has received four BAFTA nominations for best sound and also worked on 'The Last Emperor', which won the Oscar for Best Sound in 1987.
Gaynor Davenport, CEO, UK Post & Services Association, explained: “The highest honour the UK Post audio committee can bestow is The Fellowship Award. It recognises outstanding achievement in, and contribution to, the audio industry. Ray’s body of work speaks for itself, he has been an inspiration to many and, quite frankly, we could not think of a more deserving recipient of The Conch’s first Fellowship Award.”
