TSL at IBC 2006

IBC 2006 marks TSL’s 20th anniversary and it’s been a busy year for both the company’s systems integration and professional product divisions.
Building on its extensive systems engineering experience, TSL will be showcasing the latest in its ever expanding range of broadcast systems products: The new AMU HD range has everything you need to migrate your existing SD audio and video monitoring to HD, including a built-in video monitoring quality enabling HD video signals, at any standard resolution, to be down-converted at monitoring quality and displayed on an external 4:3 SD or composite monitor.
The AMU2 8HD range offers 8 channels of HD/SD embedded audio, Dolby E and Dolby Digital sources to be monitored all in one box to allow signals to be accurately monitored in a wide variety of systems applications.
TSL’s all new In-Monitor-Display (IMD) system allows dynamic UMD information and dual tallies to be displayed directly in-picture on flat screen monitors. The system has been designed as a fully integrated addition to the existing TallyMan system to give a new monitoring option positioned between multiviewers and traditional separate UMD’s that are usually mounted below the display. A TSL TallyMan system can run multiviewers, conventional UMDs and the new IMDs side by side in the same facility if required.
The system has been designed to work with both 4:3 and 16:9 sources and monitors by offering a variety of display modes which allow the UMD and tallies to be displayed in-picture or below the picture as required. The IMD system is modular and offers both dual channel composite or dual channel SDI connectivity in each module with up 16 modules equivalent to 32 channels of IMD in a 3RU rack.
New additions to the TallyMan UMD and Tally studio control system include the ESP-1R system expander which extends the serial and parallel connections. The latest TM1 and TM2 system controllers, the heart of a Tallyman solution, run the TallyMan program as an embedded Windows application allowing real-time control of the system. TallyMan systems are available from low cost entry-level systems with everything in one box right up to large scale systems with several controllers and associated peripherals networked together.
