Alison Ford appointed UK News Editor, BBC Newsgathering

Alison Ford has been appointed UK News Editor, BBC Newsgathering.
Ford succeeds Jon Williams who moved earlier this year to become World News Editor within the department.
Fran Unsworth, the BBC's Head of Newsgathering, said: "Alison has a great deal of managerial and editorial experience.
"She was recently part of the Creative Future team on journalism and will bring some of that approach and thinking to her new role, as well as energy and enthusiasm."
Commenting on the appointment Ford said: "I'm thrilled to be taking on this role.
"The whole of the journalism community is facing some really exciting challenges and I'm looking forward to working with the Newsgathering team to find creative ways to meet those challenges."
Ford joined the BBC in 1991 as a trainee reporter after studying for a degree in English Literature at Liverpool University.
Three years later she moved to Carlton TV as a producer for Central News before re-joining the BBC as Editor of Midlands Today at the BBC's Pebble Mill studios in Birmingham.
Ford went on to become Head of BBC East Midlands responsible for all radio, TV and online output for the region.
Most recently Alison was Head of Journalism for Nations and Regions and part of the Creative Future journalism team under Mark Byford, Deputy Director-General and Chair of the BBC's Journalism Board.
