ABC Complete Initial Broadcast Voyage

ABC has successfully completed the initial broadcast voyage of the network’s first mobile truck.
Outfitted with FOR-A’s HANABI HVS-1000HS multi-format, one mix/effect digital switcher, the HD mobile unit began its broadcast career with the 26 May 'Good Morning America' broadcast. The truck will be deployed for the programme’s remote coverage, including its summer concert series running through to the end of August, featuring, among others: Prince, the Beach Boys, Mary J Blige, the Pussycat Dolls, Huey Lewis, and Lionel Richie.
“We’re thrilled to be such an integral part of the network’s first HD truck,” explained Max Tsuchiyama, UK general manager, FOR-A UK. “ABC’s demanding newsgathering applications require a proven HD/SD platform with exceptional image quality. The HANABI HVS-1000HS’ small size and intuitive operating system make it ideal for ABC’s requirements. Its selection for this groundbreaking project clearly demonstrates the switcher’s market leadership and its reliability for live broadcasts.”
The HANABI HVS-1000HS is a one M/E switcher that supports 1080i, 24p, 720p, and SD formats. It is a one mix/effect version of the two M/E Hanabi HVS-3000H/S digital HD or SD switcher.
The HVS-1000HS switcher is a compact 2RU high for use wherever space is at a premium. It’s ideal for telecine, production, post-production applications as well as broadcasting. One DVE card comes pre-installed on the HVS-1000HS. And an additional optional DVE card can be installed for increased flexibility on both the SD and HD version. On the SD switchers this increases the capacity to two channels of DVE from each card. On the HD switchers, an optional DVE card provides one DVE channel.
The switcher comes standard with eight inputs, and can be configured for up to 16 inputs. Four still pictures can be stored in frame memory and the HVS-1000HS features five standard outputs (PGM x 2, PVW x 1, AUX x 1, Input Preview x 1). It is optionally expandable to seven outputs. One channel of key is also standard. Up to three independent key layers and key edge/shadow generators are available. The two optional keys can be used for chroma key operations. (CD)
