BBC RESOURCES UP TO ITS KILT IN CABER

BBC Resources’ Dubbing crew in Belfast, were up to their kilts in cabers recently when Extreme Production came in to dub ‘Clash of the Celtic Giants’ – the World Grand Prix Highland Games special for BBC Northern Ireland.
The suite, which was recently completely refurbished, offers superb surrounding, the latest widescreen technology, not to mention the creative wizardry of the dubbing team.
Extreme Production’s Director, Bob O’Brien said: “It was a tall order to create the ambiance and grunts and groans of the world’s strongest men, but how do you create the sound of a tossing caber? The BBC Resources dubbing team managed to create a superb soundtrack for the finished programme within an extremely tight schedule.”
At the heart of the suite is a state-of-the-art Logic 3 sound desk and AMS Audiofile Spectra capable of storing 12 hours of materialEdit decision lists (EDLs) from Avid, Lightworks and Cuedos can be use with the audiofile which is equipped with a Jaz drive to allow loading odf OMF format files as well as providing file audiofile backup.
An integral commentary area, complete with a Foley Floor, offers facilities from straight commentary to complex Audio Dialogue Replacement (ADR).
The area is also complemented by an extensive CD effects and video music library. Transfers from Beta, ¼ inch, DAT, CD and mini disc may be easily arranged.
