Dayang reports successful NAB

Dayang has reported a successful and buoyant NAB 2006 convention with strong international attendance, particularly from Europe.
Interest in HD remained at a high level with growing awareness of the need for multidefinition capability in the age of SD, HD and webstreaming.
"It was the busiest show we have ever participated in," said Dayang International CEO Karlton Burn. "Our new D3-Edit HD8 HDTV video/audio editor attracted a great deal of interest among broadcasters and production facility operators, for its ability to support compressed and uncompressed HD as well as DV, DVCPRO, DVCPRO-50 SD and HDV. The integral D3-CG graphics was also seen as a major benefit, enabling the production of titles, rolls, sub-titles and animations.
"Our D3-CG-HD character generator made its US exhibition debut, having already been delivered to Central China Television for use on a new HD channel. Running on an open PC platform, it allows real-time letter-by-letter motion-path manipulation, 3D titling and true object-based timeline control for infinite-layer title display.
"The latest addition to our family of monitor splitters also attracted wide interest. The MagicWall 5000 multi-controller display supports 20/40 channel SDI-video with embedded audio. It incorporates a powerful and flexible auto-alert system including video blackburst, still, lost video/audio and lost logo.
"Demand for server-based file-sharing and playout continues to increase. A new addition to our VIPS range of broadcast ingest/playout servers, the VIPS 2000 has four channels which can be assigned to simultaneous input or output, or deployed in dual-channel in/out mode. It allows ingest and playout of files in DV, MPEG2-I, MPEG-IBP and GXF formats in NTSC, PAL or ASI. Model 3000 supports simultaneous output of HD and SD. HD ingest and playout can be performed in MPEG-I, MPEG-IBP, DVCPRO HD formats. For SD, ingest and broadcasting of files in DV25, DV50, MPEG-I, MPEG-IBP formats are supported.
"We also introduced the Dayang D3 Transcode Centre which auto-detects a wide range of incoming video/audio file formats and performs video and audio encoding/decoding, file transmission and metadata switching. It can handle DV25, DV50, MPEG2 I frame, MPEG2 IBP, MPEG4, YUV, RGB, Windows Media, Real Media and Motion-JPEG. Other features include distributed code conversion and transcode-during-upload."
