Volicon teams with Front Porch Digital

Volicon, a world-leading provider of advanced solutions for monitoring, recording, archiving, and streaming digital video, has announced a partnership for deep media storage with Front Porch Digital, the global leader in archive management for broadcasters and other customers.
The solution will offer an optional interface from the Volicon Observer into Front Porch’s DIVArchive, allowing infinite media storage capacity from five to 10 years and beyond.

Volicon has developed a software interface for the Observer that integrates with Front Porch Digital’s DIVArchive system, allowing users to create virtually endless storage capability for content that has been generated by the Observer, up to 15 years and beyond. As the content on the Observer ages beyond a certain threshold point, it will automatically be offloaded into deep storage via the DIVArchive interface. Users needing to access this content will be able to bring it back into the system within minutes. They can expand this capability by adding more modules as needed.

DIVArchive can combine online disk, nearline, automated tape libraries, DVD jukeboxes, and offline storage, and transparently store, archive, and retrieve objects or files from an archive quickly. DIVArchive’s architecture is modular and can scale from small disk-only to large-capacity systems.
Volicon’s Observer desktop video, audio, and data monitoring system allows users to capture broadcast assets from multiple A/V sources, view those assets from a traditional Windows-based desktop via a Web interface, search and retrieve them, and export them to interested parties. The system is based on a powerful, proprietary streaming video engine and player that allows users to store instantly accessible content for up to a year via hardware RAID-5 storage.
