ITC APPOINT PROGRAMME OFFICER

CHRIS Banatvala, Senior Political Producer for Channel Four News has been appointed as the ITC’s Programme Officer with a special responsibility for news and current affairs programmes.
Banatvala joins the ITC Programmes and Cable Division on September 18. He will be responsible for taking a lead on issues concerning news, current affairs and programming on all channels. His remit includes assessing the extent to which channels three, four and five meet their positive programme requirements in these areas.
Banatvala will also monitor a range of programme genres across all delivery platforms for compliance with the ITC codes.
Steve Perkins, Head of Factual Programmes at ITC, said: “He is certainly arriving at an exciting and busy time in terms of news issues, and we welcome the expertise and programme-making perspective he will bring.”
Banatvala will replace Peter Ashforth, who is retiring after nearly 30 years with the ITC.
