CHYRON GEARS UP FOR NEW MEDIA REVOLUTION

News Image
CHYRON announced at IBC that it is to gear up to meet the latest new revolution to hit the broadcasting industry.
At Chyron’s IBC press conference, Roger Henderson, the Chief Executive Officer of Chyron, said: “A whole new group of people are set to become broadcasters. Primarily anyone interested in effectively marketing their business online using the latest technology.”
He said that due to the expansion of high bandwidth internet access there was about to be a revolution in broadcasting to both businesses and consumers in the area of web streaming.
Streaming via the internet offers content creators a channel over which to broadcast video and audio content. Since the mid-1990s audio has been routinely broadcast over the internet, but until recently slow connection speeds and limited bandwidth have curtailed the rapid development of video technology on a broad front.
However, in line with many other executives at IBC, Henderson indicated that the increase in broadcasting would lead to a significant increase in solutions aimed at the generation and management of internet broadcast content, and would create an entirely new set of broadcast communities.
Henderson said Chyron would be gearing up to meet the needs of these new entrants. The company will be concentrating on those with technical and financial capability to launch a website, but who do not need to develop full-blown broadcasting skills.
The new division, called Chyron Internet Services (CIS), will initially have operations centres in Europe, and North America.
Officially to launch later this year, CIS is already up and running in Europe where clients include IBC, William Hill, and Hollinger publisher of the Daily Telegraph.
