NEW CEO FOR RTL BROADCASTING SERVICES

MIKE Southgate, currently Managing Director of Pearson Television Operations, has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of the RTL Group’s newly combined technical broadcasting services.
In his new role Southgate will integrate the activities of Pearson Television’s UK Operations in London, Video Communications France (VCF), Luxembourg-based Broadcasting Centre Europe (BCE) and Cologne Broadcasting Centre (CBC) in Germany.
Ewald Walgenbach, Chief Operating Officer of the RTL Group, said: “Combining our technical services is part of our ambition to form a truly integrated pan-European media enterprise and to leverage all possible synergies throughout the group. Our broadcasting and production services are in leading positions in several markets. The combination of these businesses creates the first pan-European player within this industry. It allows us to optimise the use of our capacities and meet the needs of the market more efficiently.”
The heads of the regional companies, Luc Wagner (BCE), Alain Flammang (CBC), Pascal Farcouli (VCF) and Paul Evans (Pearson Television’s UK Operations) will form the management team, which will be based in Luxembourg.
