SKY GLOBAL TO USE BSKYB AS BENCHMARK

BRITISH Sky Broadcasting (BskyB) are to be used as the template for the newly formed Sky Global Networks Inc. News Corporation, as revealed in the company’s annual report.
Rupert Murdoch, Chairman and Chief Executive said: “It’s that success that we plan to migrate to all of Sky Global’s platforms around the world, tailored and priced to the demands of each local market.”
Sky Global has been created to house News Corporation’s satellite distribution platforms and related businesses including, a 38 per cent interest in BskyB, 100 per cent of Satellite Television Asian Region (STAR), 80 per cent in NDS Group PLC along with numerous other stakes in companies.
Murdoch said: “STAR TV operates across 53 countries and reaches 80 million households. As STAR traditional broadcast channels continue to mature and grow in value, we have turned our attention to broadband interactive television and the opportunity to offer the same kind of services currently provided through BskyB to a lucrative region.”
