BUFVC GET A GRIP OF MOVING IMAGES

BRITISH Universities Film and Video Council (BUFVC) will be holding one-day courses entitled ‘Encoding Digital Video for Network Delivery’ in the forthcoming months.
The courses will be led by Greg Newtoningham, Project Manager of the joint British Film Institute and BUFVC and Murray Weston, Director of the BUFVC.
The course aims to provide coverage of problems and issues relating to digitising moving images for online delivery. It will also cover video sources, compression and file formats, software and platforms for moving images, server technology, backing up and archiving, copyright status and forms of delivery. Participants are not expected to have had experience in handling moving images in an IT environment.
The course is designed to suit audio-visual service providers, computer services staff, librarians and those involved in exploring new forms of delivery of moving pictures to specialist audiences.
The courses begin in October. For further information contact BUFVC on Tel: 020 7393 1504 or alternatively email [email protected].
