Nickelodeon France bys raft of children’s shows from Granada International
Following its recent launch at the end of last year, Nickelodeon France has acquired two of Granada International’s top children’s shows.
International pre-school hit ‘Pocoyo’, and ‘tween’ comedy drama from the US and ‘Darcy’s Wild Life’, have both been picked up by the French channel, which is part of MTV. Pocoyo is co-produced by Granada International and Zinkia Entertainment in association with Granada Kids and Cosgrove Hall, Darcy's Wild Life is produced by Temple Street Productions.
Caroline Boré-Dijoud, Head of Programming and On-Air Nickelodeon France, said: “We are delighted with the successful launch of our new channel. Our young viewers are demanding the very best shows from France and around the world. We are sure our very young audiences and their parents will enjoy Pocoyo, which has immediate universal appeal. We also believe that Nickelodeon’s older viewers will be eager to follow Darcy’s adventures in such a stylishly produced US series.”
Toby Melling, Vice President of Sales at Granada International, added: “This is our first deal with Nickelodeon in France and we are sure that these two shows will work well for the channel. We hope to develop our relationship with them further with many new and exciting new shows to offer in the coming months.”
In addition, series one and two of ITV Productions’ teen hit based on the Jacqueline Wilson books ‘Girl’s In Love’ has been acquired by Canal J in France. Canal J is a cable and satellite channel targeted toward children aged between 2 and 14.
