NEW FEATURE TO PREMIER AT LONDON FILM FESTIVAL

THE LATEST feature film from Newcastle-based Amber Collective, ‘Like Father’, will be premiered at the London Film Festival with screenings on November 14 and 15.
Funded by the BBC and the Arts Council, the film is set in villages of the de-industrialised Durham coastline and features performances by a number of local people. In January 2001, the film will tour various non-traditional venues in East Durham, giving the local communities an opportunity to see the film before it goes on cinema release.
Set in real places and incorporating real experience, the film features strong performances from both professional and non-professional actors. Strongly committed to nurturing natural talent in untrained local people, Amber took the step of casting people with no previous acting experience in three main roles.
‘Like Father’ portrays a family crisis, focusing on the dislocations of grandfather, father and son.
After this regional festival, the package will have an international tour organised by The British Council, starting with a four-month tour of Germany.
