BANNISTER ANNOUNCES INTENTION TO QUIT BBC

MATTHEW Bannister has announced his resignation from his post of Director of Marketing and Communications at the BBC.
Bannister will step down from his post at the end of the year. While he has apparently left the BBC without lining up another job, sources indicate that he wishes to pursue other opportunities outside the corporation.
Director-General Greg Dyke said: “Matthew has been a great colleague in the short time we’ve been working together and the ideas he has contributed to the 'One BBC' restructuring and the future direction of the organisation have been stimulating and productive. I am very sorry he is leaving but he has decided it’s time for a change in the direction of his career.”
Bannister has held high profile jobs within the BBC including Controller of Radio, Director of Radio and Chief Executive of BBC Production. Dyke has attributed BBC Radio’s current success to Bannister.
The BBC said Banister’s replacement was not yet under consideration.
