SKY WELCOMES DECISION ON CONTROL OF BIB

BskyB have welcomed the decision by the Department of Trade and Industry to allow the company to take control of British Interactive Broadcasting (BiB).
Responding to the announcement, a spokesman for the company said: “We welcome this decision. Together, Sky and Open are strongly committed to building the best interactive and e-commerce platform on TV. This is a very exciting step and we look forward to making Britain’s only free interactive TV service even more popular.
“Following this decision, eight of the nine conditions imposed by the European Commission on the original BiB joint venture will fall away and Sky already provides a clean feed of their premium TV channels under the remaining EC condition.”
