Leader test equipment chosen for UMMC Sports Palace

Leader digital test equipment has been chosen for installation in the new UMMC Sports Palace at Verkhnyaya Pyshma, Sverdlovsk region, eastern Russia.
An LT428 component digital signal generator and LV5100 waveform monitor were supplied via the Moscow-based broadcast system integrator Matrix Engineering by elQuip BV, European Master Distributor for Leader Electronics Corporation.
The UMMC Sports Palace provides a wide range of sports facilities and is fully-equipped for live broadcasting and video postproduction. Construction was funded by the Ural Mining & Metallurgical Company, one of the largest employers in the Sverdlovsk region. The venue includes an 870 square metre main arena with seating for 2,000 spectators. It will host Russian and Euroleague basketball championships as well as providing sports and fitness training. A leisure centre is currently being added.
"Both Leader test instruments have been installed in the master control room where they can be used to check the operating parameters of all the equipment in the facility," commented Vladimir Migin, Matrix Engineering's Senior System Manager. The LT428 and LV5100 were chosen for their inherent stability, their precision, ease of use and ease of maintenance."
"Leader's LT428 and LV5100 are an ideal combination for a broadcast production facility," added Paul Vos, elQuip Managing Director. "The LT428 is a compact PAL/NTSC signal generator with three independent black burst outputs. These are independently phase-adjustable which is ideal for synchronising digital devices requiring individual phase timing. The LV5100's combination of two passive component SDI inputs plus a three-channel YUV/GBR analogue input are particularly useful in analogue/digital hybrid environments."
A compact half-U rack size, Leader's LT428 can be genlocked to incoming component video, black burst or composite sync. Features include component serial digital output conforming to SMPTE-259M, analogue composite output, dual channel AES digital audio output, analogue stereo audio output, and 44.1 kHz or 48 kHz word clock. Site-specific parameters can be preset via an external PC, an arrangement that safeguards against unintentional reconfiguration.
Occupying a compact 215 mm x 429 mm x 132 mm WDH, the Leader LV5100 waveform monitor incorporates a 150 mm rectangular high-intensity P4-phosphor CRT which can be used to display Y or G chroma components as a television image. The positional relationship between a video signal and its corresponding image can be checked using the intensity-modulated display of a selected image line.
Electronically-generated cursor reference lines allow easy measurement of signal level. A data dump function enables a user-defined line of digital data to be displayed in hex. Analogue stereo audio can be viewed in X-Y mode. Ten user-assignable memories allow frequently-employed measurement parameters to be stored for local or remote rapid recall.
