TNS selects Pro-Bel for new UK playout facility
Pro-Bel, a premier manufacturer and supplier of routing switchers, signal processing, master control, automation and workflow technologies, has announced that Technicolor Network Services UK (TNS), has selected Pro-Bel automation together with other Pro-Bel products for its new playout facility.
Based in West London, TNS, owned by Thomson, has installed Pro-Bel’s next generation automation system Morpheus to sit at the heart of its new multi-channel playout suite. TNS provides a range of playout services from its London facility including multi-language and post production capabilities, as well as multiplexing.
The new suite was completed during the summer and is equipped to run in excess of thirty channels, from basic cuts only, to fully-managed live presentation. The new facility benefits from two complete systems that mirror one another, therefore providing total redundancy in an extremely cost-effective package. This set-up – whereby two distinct systems are run with no common networking between them – also allows for easy future expansion as new technologies can be trialled on one without affecting the other.
Morpheus is controlling a wide range of technologies in the playout chain. The system is designed to operate in a fully-automated manner, a core requirement given the number of channels that will ultimately populate the suite.
Graham Pitman, Pro-Bel’s CEO, said: “We are delighted that TNS has recognised the unique qualities of Morpheus and our determination to provide best-of-breed technologies. From the outset, Morpheus was developed in consultation with our customers and we remain committed to that process as the product continues to expand upon its core potential.”
