GRIFFEE APPOINTED HEAD OF CENTRE AT BBC BIRMINGHAM

CONTROLLER of BBC English Regions, Andy Griffee, has been given the additional post of Head of Centre at BBC Birmingham.
Making the new appointment, BBC Director-General Greg Dyke described Griffee’s extra role as ‘The BBC champion in the West Midlands’.
Grifee said: “This new role will enable the BBC to speak with one voice in Birmingham and the West Midlands. We’ll be raising our even higher profile in the city and I’ll be making sure that everyone appreciates and understands that the BBC is fully committed to maintaining network production in Birmingham, as well as making programmes for our local and regional audience.”
Griffee was appointed as Controller, English Regions in 1999, where he has overall responsibility for more than 2000 staff working in the BBC’s 10 region.
Programmes made in the region include ‘Midlands Today’, the Thursday evening BBC Two regional current affairs strand, the Sunday political programme ‘Midlands at Westminister’, and those made for the local radio stations BBC WM and BBC Coventry and Warwickshire.
