JAY FILM MAKES KEN LOACH FILM DEBUT

MANAGING Director Joanna Urwin of Newcastle upon Tyne based Jay Film & Video found real life imitating art when she was asked to produce a corporate video for the latest Ken Loach film.
Using the working title of ‘The Navigators’, the film is set during the privatisation of a Sheffield rail company in 1995. The corporate video is used in a scene where the personnel of the organisation are being shown what privatisation will mean to them.
Urwin said: “The way corporate videos are made has come a long way since ’95 and we were approached to turn the clock back. However it was only thanks to the latest technology that the colours of the trains in the film could be digitally changed, as the trains we had to film were not around then. Mr Loach was very pleased with the results, he told me that he thought it was great. Rebecca O’Brien, the feature film’s producer also commented on how remarkably convincing the corporate video was.”
Loach shot to fame with his film ‘Kes’ and in 1990, while ‘Hidden Agenda’ won Loach the Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival.
