the hive names Simon Briggs Managing Director

the hive, part of the VTR Group, has announced the appointment of Simon Briggs as Managing Director.
Briggs will work alongside the Managing Directors at blue, TMR and VTR, and report into the group’s operations director, Neil Lane.
Briggs has worked within the group for a total of nine years. Most recently he was director at blue, and prior to that he spent seven years as director of post production at TMR (previously The Machine Room). During his time at TMR he oversaw the implementation of both its editing and DVD departments.
Prior to these roles he worked at postproduction facility, TVI, now known as Ascent Media.
“We’ve got some exceptionally creative talent here who have worked across a diverse range of high-profile projects.” said Briggs. “The hive has been hugely successful over the past five years and I am excited to have the opportunity to drive the company forward and onto the next stage of its natural growth.”
Neil Lane, Operations Director, VTR Group, said: “Moving Simon across from blue to head up operations at the hive made absolute sense.
“He’s got the right personality and experience for the job and I’m confident that he’ll maximise on the hive’s existing success in the broadcast arena with major channels in the UK.”
In addition to enhancing the hive’s client base, Brigg’s appointment forms part of a longer-term plan to cross-fertilise across the group.
Lane continued: “There’s lots of synergy between the two companies in terms of blue’s and the hive’s client bases – and Simon’s perfectly placed to bring the two closer together, while maintaining a strong relationship with the other divisions within the group.”
