SUITE TALKING AT BBC RESOURCES

EIGHT new editing suites, dubbed the ‘finest in London’, have been unveiled at BBC Television Centre.
The BBC say that the newly created non-linear editing and dubbing areas rival any facility in Soho, and elsewhere in the capital.
Jim Brown, Director of London Operations, said: “Its comfortable atmosphere, flexible technology, and competitive prices will be hard to beat anywhere in London.”
BBC Resources’ major investment includes the installation of an Avid Symphony in one of the three on-line editing suites, and a revolutionary Avid Unity shared storage system that links all of the suites. In addition, there are five off-line suites, plus new kit to receive live feeds directly from studios and outside broadcast sources.
The first of two new sound dubbing theatres will also be launched, the second to be opened later this month, making a total of six.
The opening of the new area brings the number of Avid non-linear editing suites provided by London Post Production to 26 on-line and 33 off-line. The post-production suites are operated by a BBC Resources’ team of over 100 editors, working across all programme genres.
BBC Resources will be running workshops to inform programme makers of the different post-production routes available to them using the new technology and facilities.
