New dual power supply DAC from AKM

Asahi Kasei Microsystems (AKM), a leading supplier of audio ICs for professional and consumer markets, has introduced the low-cost AK4340, a dual power supply DAC with a built-in line amplifier for DVD players, AV/DVD receivers and musical instruments.
The amplifier directly generates a 2Vrms output, which makes it ideal for cost-sensitive consumer digital audio applications, as there is no need for external op-amps. The output stage features two gains, so the output voltage can switch between 2Vrms and the 2.5Vrms, required for high-end consumer equipment.
The 24-bit AK4340 can sample up to 192 kHz and offers very low noise performance (106dB), while the switched capacitor filter provides excellent immunity to clock jitter.
The AK4340 is operated by a flexible dual power supply so that the audio signal can be zero volt biased, eliminating external DC blocking capacitors. This means the chip maintains a high sound quality despite significant board space savings. The negative power supply has a wide range from -4.5V to -13.2V.
The AK4340 also offers de-emphasis, soft mute and on-chip ATT for each L/R channel. Control is achieved through registers and pin settings.
The AK4340 is available in a 16-pin TSSOP package. Evaluation boards and samples are available now.
