INTERVIDEO AND INTEL ANNOUNCE PARTNERSHIP

INTERVIDEO, developers of PC video and audio software, have announced that they have partnered with Intel, based in Swindon, UK, to bring interactive high definition television viewing to consumers.
InterVideo will combine and enhance software developed by Intel that supports the Advanced Television Enhancement Forum (ATVEF) standard with its own HDTV playback software, WinDTV(TM).
ATVEF have defined an interactive standard that allows broadcasters to embed interactive data onto their programming. WinDTV with ATVEF support will allow PC users to experience high definition broadcast, including interactive content.
Vice President of Sales and Marketing for InterVideo, Joe Monastiero, said: “By combining Intel’s ATVEF development efforts with our own DTV technology, WinDTV will be one of the first convergence products that will enable consumers to not only view HDTV, but also interact with the content for a more enriched and compelling experience. We are excited to be partnering with Intel in this pioneering effort.”
Using the ATVEF specifications, broadcasters can add interactive content and data to a broadcast video stream. Examples of ATVEF enhancements include allowing TV viewers sitting at their computers to see detailed sports statistics during a game, participate in game shows, study remotely and interactively, and purchase items during commercials.
