AYSIS AIRS TO A BILLION PEOPLE AT MUSIC AWARDS

TIM Sumerhayes of London-based Sanctuary Mobiles had the daunting task of mixing the live Countdown show on the Team Jelbe console at the MTV Europe Music Awards that were staged recently in Stockholm, Sweden.
Summerhayes described the job as, “Creating order from chaos. There was a tremendous amount going on in the five separate areas of the arena. We had 54 feeds, a mix of live and pre-recorded interviews and two live bands. You had to keep a cool head as any mistakes would have been extremely visible.”
It was the first time Summerhayes used Solid State Logics (SSL) digital broadcast console and the experience and assistance provided by Team Jelbe left him impressed.
Team Jelbe’s 64-foot long semi-trailer was one of the first OB trucks in the world to be equipped for digital surround-sound and the 48-fader Aysis Air is fitted with 48 mono and eight stereo inputs together with 48 channels I/O for both analogue and AES/EBU digital audio.
