SONY’S CINEALTA IS COMING TO DUBLIN

SONY’S CineAlta roadshow is to screen at the UCI Cinema in Dublin on December 8.
CineAlta, which aims to change the way movies, commercials and quality television programmes are produced and distributed all over the world, provides a digital 24P system that delivers pictures to traditional 35mm film.
The first programme ever produced in CineAlta was ‘The Ground Beneath Her Feet’. Directed by Wim Wenders, it intercuts film-originated sequences from his latest movie ‘The Million Dollar Hotel’ with material shot in Dublin using the new HDW-F900 camcorder.
‘The Ground Beneath Her Feet’ had a digital premier at the Berlin Film Festival in February 2000, just two weeks from the day that it was shot.
At the CineAlta Digital Premier screenings, a series of examples will be presented to illustrate the quality the system can deliver.
The screenings will include electronic projection of material originated on film and with the CineAlta camera as well as transfers of digital footage to 35mm film for conventional theatrical cinema presentation.
Representatives from Sony and Digital Projection will be available to discuss relevant projects.
