Initiative to provide work opportunities in film and media industries

A new ground-breaking initiative to offer paid work placements at the heart of the film and media industries was launched by Four Corners, an independent media training centre based in East London.
The initiative, supported by Channel Four and the UK Film Council, is part of the Skillsbase professional development scheme and will offer selected participants ten week’s work at a range of top film and television companies.
Following a successful pilot in 2003 which saw 40 per cent of participants directly gaining employment at key organisations such as ITN, the BBC, The UK Film Council and the London Film and Video Development Agency, Skillsbase aims to support East London’s media freelancers into continuous employment in the film and TV industries.
The scheme offers targeted business advice, mentoring and industry work placements with particular support for women, black and minority ethnic groups.
The deadline for applications is 7th November.
For further information and application details are available from www.fourcorners.co.uk or telephone Chris and Arti on 020 8981 6111.
