Megahertz launches SMART SNG at IBC
Megahertz Broadcast Systems chose IBC to launch SMART SNG, a cost effective Satellite News Gathering vehicle that has been specifically designed with a very rapid build time and as an all-round fast response solution.
Based on a Mercedes Vito chassis, this compact little truck incorporates everything a broadcaster needs to get their news back to the studio from the scene of the action. The vehicle has a 1.5m satellite dish mounted on its roof, is powered by an integral diesel generator (with the option of a second generator for extra power and redundancy), and is equipped inside with a comprehensive baseband and RF package of the customer's choice.
"The idea evolved from our customers‚ requests," said Megahertz Technical Director Steve Burgess. "We were being asked for a low cost alternative to the larger SNGs to be delivered effectively from stock, so we devised the SMART SNG in response to their requests.
"The most recent one we built was completed in less than four weeks. The beauty of this vehicle is that it can be easily customised to suit the needs of individual broadcasters, yet still delivered very quickly."
