Pro-Bel Sirius Gold chosen for tpc's HD OB truck

Pro-Bel has announced that tv productioncenter zürich (tpc), Switzerland’s largest TV production company and a member of the SRG SSR idée suisse (Swiss Broadcasting Corporation), is using a Sirius Gold router along with an Aurora control system in its brand new, 24-camera HD OB truck.
As prime contractor for the project – managing the design and installation – Sony Professional Services demonstrated the vehicle at IBC 2005.
Sony worked in conjunction with Zurich-based tpc regarding equipment selection. The 512 x 512 Sirius Gold router – equipped 128 x 256 SD and 192 x 160 HD – was chosen because of its combination of technical ability and size.
The first major event where the OB unit will be used is the 2006 Winter Olympics, taking place in Torino, Italy. It will be used to cover the Men’s Downhill, Downhill combined and Super-G-events. After the Winter Olympics, the truck will be used to cover a range of sporting events as well as cultural productions across Europe.
“Sirius Gold was developed by Pro-Bel to allow companies looking for larger routers to take advantage of Sirius’ widely recognised technical capabilities. We believe that we have achieved a major engineering feat and we are pleased that a Sirius Gold has been chosen for such a major project,” explained Pro-Bel’s Chief Technology Officer Neil Maycock.
