Russian channel chooses Leader LV5100D Analyser

Russian television broadcaster Channel 7 (Tele-Shere) has selected Leader's LV5100D component digital waveform monitor for installation in the central apparatus room at the network's Krasnoyarsk headquarters.
The purchase was made via Leader's Moscow-based distributor, ISPA, in co-operation with Eindhoven-based European master distributor elQuip B.V.
Alexander Buchnev, Technical Director of Channel 7, explained: "We were looking for a compact instrument that we could use to monitor the output from a variety of feeds to a Ross Video Synergy 100 production switcher located in the newsroom. The LV5100D combines high measurement accuracy with a broad range of features including vector display of digital and analogue signals plus an EDH measurement facility for monitoring serial transmission accuracy. It also has a useful equivalent-cable-length measurement function allowing signal level to be checked as a safeguard against digital transmission path failure."
Compatible with 625/50 and 525/60 systems, the LV5100D has two passive component serial digital input channels conforming to ITU-R656-1 and SMPTE-259M. An active output provides onward transmission of either input. A three-channel YUV/GBR analogue input is also incorporated.
Y or G chroma components can be viewed as a television image on the instrument's 150 mm rectangular high-intensity P4-phosphor CRT. The positional relationship between a video signal and its corresponding image can be checked using the intensity-modulated display of a selected image line. Electronically-generated cursor reference lines allow easy measurement of signal level.
A data dump function enables a user-defined line of digital data to be displayed in hex. Analogue stereo audio can be viewed in X-Y mode.
Ten user-assignable memories allow frequently-employed measurement parameters to be stored for local or remote rapid recall.
The LV5100D occupies a compact 215 mm x 429 mm x 132 mm WDH.
