ITC PUBLISH REPORT ON ITV NETWORKING

THE Independent Television Commission (ITC) have published their annual report on Channel 3 networking arrangements for 1999.
The seventh annual report includes details of the in-house and independent programmes commissioned by the network centre for all regional licensees and details of the commissioning process.
The report is based on data received from the ITV Network Ltd at three key stages of the production lifecycle of a programme: the issue of a letter of intent; the contractual arrangement and the programme transmission. A separate section of the report considers Channel 3 sports programmes, which are subject to a different commissioning process.
Channel 3 are required to use independent producers for at least 25 per cent of qualifying programmes, which is essentially all transmissions except acquired programmes, repeats and news.
The full text of the report can be obtained from the ITC. (CMcL)
