CEO OF TELEWEST TO JOIN QXL BOARD

QXL, the online auction company, have announced the appointment of Adam Singer, Group Chief Executive of Telewest Communications, who will be joining their Board of Directors as a Non-Executive Director.
Telewest are one of Britain's biggest digital media and telecom operators and are currently leaders in the rollout of broadband services.
Singer, 48, has been at the forefront of Britain's communications revolution, having been a pioneer in the development of the cable industry and multi-channel television.
Prior to his appointment as Chief Executive of Telewest in May 2000, Singer was Chairman and Chief Executive of Flextech, suppliers of basic pay-television channel.
Singer said: "E-commerce is here to stay and the arrival of new high-speed forms of distribution will reinforce that. What better place can there be to observe this revolution and contribute to it than at QXL, which is one of the most exciting of the new media companies to have emerged in the past few years. I believe it has a robust business model and great potential for further growth and I look forward to being involved in such a story."
He is also currently a Non-Executive Director of SMG, the ITV franchise-holders and newspapers group.
From 1992 to 1997 Singer was President and Chief Operating Officer of Telecommunications International, where he was responsible for satellite and cable operations around the world for the U.S. cable giant TCI. (CD)
