dB Broadcast at IBC 2005

dB Broadcast, the Cambridgeshire-based leading systems integrator, is attending IBC 2005 after its most successful year ever.
Early in the year dB won a major contract for the supply, installation, integration and commissioning of a new state-of the-art transmission playout facility in central London. This comprises six ingest stations, five playout desks, a master control desk, a presentation suite and 80 equipment racks. The new centre will be fully operational this year and will enable the client to bring the transmission of its entire range of services in-house.
Then, this summer, dB won a multi-million pounds contract to build a totally new TV station in a purpose-built complex located in the heart of Amman, the capital of the Kingdom of Jordan. In between there were numerous other projects including the provision of six new radio cars, for BBC English Regions, for use by BBC local radio.
On the product side, dB will use IBC to officially launch its B083 series of Hawkeye switching and monitoring modules. The series embraces the B083M dual ASI TS table monitor module, and the B083S and B083C - both ASI TS 2x2 switch and table monitor modules.
The B083M dual ASI transport stream (TS) table section detector continuously monitors two ASI MPEG streams within a broadcast environment. These can be independent streams, or related streams arranged in a main and reserve configuration. The module is similar to the established B082M ASI TS monitor, except it monitors tables sections that are manually maintained by the user, rather than detecting content through a specified list of programme identifiers (PIDs).
The B083M can be upgraded to the B083S to include an internal 2x2 switch. This enables to the module to route automatically the appropriate input stream to the outputs on the basis of the detected results. The 2x2 switch can be set for near seamless switching, a technology developed by dB Broadcast.
The B083C also incorporates all the functionality of the B083M but with a 2x2 switch. The internal 2x2 switch enables the module to automatically route the appropriate input stream to output A and B on the basis of the detected results. Automatic operation is configurable by the user, but the switch may be externally controlled via the front panel, external GPIs, DART, or one of the two serial ports.
