GLASGOW HOSTS SCHOOL OF SOUND
LONDON based School of Sound have announced their fourth annual symposium, which will be held in the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow City Centre.
For three years, the School of Sound have offered film and video makers a series of presentations on the possibilities of sound with the moving image, with directors, sound designers, composers, and editors demonstrating the soundtrack from hundreds of new angles. During the four-day meeting, topics on the agenda range from the practical to the aesthetic, and have included sonic environments, non-naturalistic sound, sound as metaphor, human sound perception and sound for multimedia.
Proposed speakers for this year’s sessions include New York film composer Carter Burwell, commercial editor David Cooper and Dick Fontaine, Head of Documentary at the National Film & Television School.
The School of Sound will take place from April 4-7 2001 and bookings are now being accepted.
