GRASS VALLEY GROUP LAUNCH NEW APPLICATIONS

THE GRASS Valley Group have unveiled a set of applications-oriented products for driving workflow efficiencies and cost control.
Continuing to chart the course they set a year ago with their 'Media Without Bounds' initiative for Digicasters, the announcements will provide broadcasters and video professionals a no-nonsense approach to getting content as efficiently as possible.
Tim Thorsteinson, President of the Grass Valley Group, said: "Imagine a shared-storage solution that gives you unlimited access to high-quality video and the tools you need to manipulate that video, simultaneously. Or a suite of digital non-linear tools for news production that provide unprecedented speed and efficiency while being easy to use for lifetime tape operators.

The practical approach we've taken will enable them to maintain equilibrium in today's economy, to make step-wise investments in their current models and at the same time into new digital distribution and revenue opportunities, and to enjoy new price and performance benefits in many of our new products."
The hardware and software products announced include the Grass Valley Media Area Network (MAN), real-time shared-storage option for the Profile XP Media Platform and the Aqua Internet encoder.
The company also detailed advances in their Profile XP Media Platform for high-definition video and digital cinema, and offered a technology preview of their advanced archive technology, the Profile Network Archive partial file restore software.
Grass Valley recently announced orders from the Australian Broadcast Corporation, and the BBC as well as strong momentum for their next-generation of products in the Americas. (GB)
