The Leeds Studios gains £360k post production sound investment

Granada Resources are extending their post production sound capabilities with the addition of a third £360,000 multi-format dubbing theatre at The Leeds Studios.
Equipped with an AMS Neve DFC Gemini Console with Audiofile SC and Cinefile, Theatre 1 will offer a totally non-linear mixing environment for television and film formats. Once a project has been mixed it can be reversioned without having to be re-acquired, and can be played out on to the chosen delivery medium.
Outboard equipment will include: the TC6000 automatable multi-channel echo processor with mastering capability and multi channel pitch shift functions, together with CD, DVD, Dat, Minidisk, recorders and a variety of other favourite processors. Theatre 1 will be networked to the existing two theatres and sites, facilitating the easy movement of material between them.
To achieve the best compromise between a large auditorium environment and smaller television theatre, THX approved Dynaudio M3F main monitors have been specified. A custom built subwoofer and six Dynaudio BM 6 surround speakers with XTA DP226 crossovers will be installed. Amplification will be via four Dynaudio T 2000’s and two T4 250’s.
“’Dub 1’ will provide the optimum listening environment for multi channel mixes and, in conjunction with our existing dubbing theatres, will enable us to handle the increasing volume and complexity of network drama and documentary work in the North,” Head of Post Production, Lance Tattersall, said.
Theatre 1 opens next month with projects set to include: a new series of 'A Touch of Frost'; Series 2 of 'Distant Shores; Wire In The Blood' (Coastal Productions); Marchioness W.T.' (Granada Yorkshire / Chameleon), Heartbeat' and 'Where The Heart Is', all for ITV, along with 'Bodies' Series 2 for BBC TWO and THREE (Hat Trick Productions) and 'Rocketman', the new Coastal Productions drama, also for the BBC.
The Leeds Studios is a Granada Resources Company. Along with Film Lab North, The Finishing School and ProVision in Leeds and 3sixtymedia located at The Manchester Studios, it provides integrated production facilities for broadcast, film and commercial production throughout the UK.
