BBC SPORT IS TOPS FOR PARALYMPIC COVERAGE

BBC SPORT have announced that they have scored a ‘double top’ for Paralympic coverage in the British Wheelchair Sports foundation (BWSF) awards.
The Corporation were awarded ‘Best Media Coverage’ for their broadcast of the Paralympic from Sydney, introduced by Clare Balding and produced by Venner Television. This also makes a double for the BBC after their award of Olympic Gold Rings by the International Olympic Committee for the ‘Best Coverage of the Olympics’.
James Pearce also won the Media Award at the BWSF ceremony for his reporting of the Paralympics for BBC Television News and Radio Five Live.
Peter Salmon, BBC Director of Sport, said: “We’re delighted with these awards. We have worked closely with sports men and women with disabilities and will continue to do so. The reaction to the Paralympic coverage was particularly satisfying and we are looking at other opportunities to create programmes in this area.” (CMcL)
