CROWN CASTLE PURCHASE FALCON ANALYSERS

News Image
CROWN Castle International, the leading independent providers of infrastructure and services for broadcast transmission and wireless telecommunications, have purchased 27 of dB Broadcast's new Falcon hand-held ASI analyser.
Officially launched at IBC 2000, Falcon is a battery-powered hand-held device that enables service and maintenance engineers to analyse DVB asynchronous serial interface (ASI) transport streams quickly and easily in real-time.
Most other analysers are rack mounted and assume that the data link is healthy. This may cause delays in rectifying certain problems. According to Stephen Foden, a Project Engineer at Crown Castle: "Falcon not only detects a failed bit stream but also gives the engineer a reason why it has been lost. This level of monitoring has just not been available in test equipment until now. Falcon is proving extremely useful in situations where we would have struggled in the past. We are absolutely delighted with it, and all our 25 engineering teams are being equipped with one."
Tom Swan, dB Broadcast's Sales and Marketing Manager, said: "Crown Castle came up with the original idea and specification for a hand-held analyser. We have made it a reality and added some embellishments of our own. As well as the order from Crown Castle, we received considerable interest during IBC that led to a number of other significant orders in the UK, France and the Far East."
The Falcon can be used in any location: at transmitter and cable headend sites, broadcast stations, or satellite sites. (GB)
