Riedel C3 Performer honoured by TV Technology

NAB 2005 was a huge success for Riedel Communications in more ways than one.
The company, known for pioneering advanced intercom technology, walked away with record-breaking leads as well as a coveted STAR (Superior Technology Award Recipient) Award from the editors of TV Technology magazine for the Performer C3 digital beltpack/headset intercom station.
“We’re excited that our digital impact to the remaining analogue domain ‘partyline systems’ is honoured both by industry professionals and journalists who come in contact with a plethora of new products,” said Vinnie Macri, US Sales and Marketing Manager of the German-based company. Riedel maintains US headquarters in Burbank, CA. “The combination of the STAR Award and our unprecedented success at NAB confirms our position as a rising and permanent presence in the US Communications market.”
The STAR Awards are designed to celebrate and showcase the preeminent technological innovations available to the broadcast industry. A panel of judges consisting of TV Technology editors and columnists reviewed a variety of products, examined the technical applications and their overall contribution to the industry, and then submitted their award nominees.
“Our panel of editors and columnists walked the show floor in search of innovative and ground-breaking new products,” said Tom Butts, Editor of TV Technology. “The products we selected made the cut—they demonstrated their ability to help advance the acquisition and dissemination of audio and video in the professional video marketplace.”
Based on the technology of Riedel’s C2 Digital Beltpack, the C3 is a fully integrated, digital 2-channel solution for combined digital matrix and party-line style intercom. The platform can be used stand-alone or in conjunction with matrix systems such as Riedel’s Artist platform. The C3 serves as a component in the Company’s Performer series which also includes the C44 System Interface, and the C31 1x3 Split Box.
The C3 is an ergonomically shaped, fully digital 2-channel belt-pack that includes popular features from conventional analog party line systems including daisy-chaining. Operation is extremely convenient; one control is used for talk and listen for each channel. The C3 has three XLR connectors, one for head-set, one for input and one for loop through. The loop through XLR connector can be used as an additional analogue program input.
