PIXEL POWER LAUNCH GRAPHITE 2 SYSTEM

IN a move to enhance the capabilities of the successful Graphite on air presentation graphics system, Cambridge company Pixel Power have introduced Graphite 2.
Based on the company’s Collage 2 systems, Graphite 2 offers superior speed and flexibility along with the expandability inherent in a new hardware platform.
Graphite 2 is a dedicated proprietary broadcast character generator and graphics system with a tightly integrated expandable uncompressed video clip store. With Graphite 2 broadcasters can enhance their on air look by using uncompressed animated backgrounds and lower thirds, without the connectivity and control problems associated with multiple pieces of equipment.
Supplied as a complete turnkey system or as an upgrade to any existing Graphite or Collage system, Graphite 2 is offered in two basic configurations to cover the differing requirements of the playout and graphics production areas. Graphite 2 also has a number of options, which enable the system to be configured to meet customers specific operational, technical and budgetary requirements.
The Graphite 2 range fits into broadcast systems, communicating with a wide range of third party products. In addition to interfaces with all the major station automation systems including Omnibus, Harris, Sony, Encoda, Pro-Bel and Philips, Graphite 2 also operates with newsroom systems such as ENPS and iNews. The evolving MOS standard for media control is also an integral part of Graphite 2.
Graphite is already the cornerstone of the on-air look at HTV in the UK and Telecinco in Spain. Graphite was also recently used for the live grand final of Granada Television’s prime time ‘Stars in Their Eyes’ talent show. For this program Discreet’s Flame was used to create the special effects, which were played out on demand by Graphite. Graphite also provided the requisite independent text layers, frame and field accurate video duration and triggering control, video transitions and 2D effects. Once the votes had been gathered and counted from the telephone and Internet polls they were entered into the templates on Graphite and played out under GPI control. (GB)
