BAZALGETTE APPOINTED TO CHANNEL FOUR BOARD

THE ITC have announced that Peter Bazalgette has been appointed to the Channel Four Board.
Bazalgette, the Creative Director of Endemol Entertainment UK, is the creator of popular television series including ‘Food & Drink’ and ‘Changing Rooms’. He is also the man who brought ‘Big Brother’ to Channel Four.
He takes up his appointment, which is for a period of three years, from April 1, 2001.
Announcing the appointment, ITC Chairman Sir Robin Biggam said: “We are delighted to have been able to appoint Peter Bazalgette to the Board. There is a long tradition of producers sitting on the Board, and he brings with him a wealth of experience and expertise in broadcasting, and I am sure his contribution to the Channel’s continued success will be a significant one.”
Bazalgette’s television formats are sold to more than 30 countries, including programmes such as the Pepsi Chart (C5, now sold to 13 countries worldwide), The Brit Awards (ITV) and Miami 7 (BBC1).
Bazalgette received ‘The Indie-vidual Award’ for ‘Outstanding Personal Contribution to the Independent Sector’ at the Indies 2000, and has been awarded The Fellowship by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts.
Delivering the MacTaggart Lecture at 1998’s Edinburgh Television Festival, Bazalgette is a regular commentator on media affairs via television, radio and in a column written for ‘The Guardian’.
The ITC appoints non-executive members of the Channel 4 Board with the agreement of the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport. (GB)
