ROOT6, solutions providers of leading technologies such as those from Avid, Cisco Systems, Sonic and Sony Data, chose the Production Show to announce their first product, HammerHead.
HammerHead is a new automation tool that brings significant advantages in workflow management to those involved in the production and distribution of streaming media.
Root6 was formed three years ago by a team of senior ex-Avid employees.
Developed by Root6, HammerHead is a web-based software application providing a toolkit for encoding and transcoding media for all media formats - Windows Media, Real Video, MPEG and QuickTime.
HammerHead encoding and transcoding is managed via a web-based user interface (WUI,) providing secure system operation, and providing multiple users in both Intranet and Extranet environments with the necessary tools to manage and execute streaming media projects.
HammerHead is a hardware independent automation application, enabling both current and envisaged encode/transcode technologies to be incorporated within the system. Likewise, HammerHead's hardware independence means that for the first time a truly scalable production and distribution system for streaming media is available.
The system may be readily expanded as user requirements change.
