SURPRISE TIMESHIFT FOR PRODUCTION SHOW 2002

IN a surprise move the organisers of The Production Show have announced a strategic shift in the timing of the 2002 event.
Aiming for greater exposure in terms of previews and promotions, show organisers Emap Media have decided to move the 2002 Production Show back to May 21 to 23, which will see the show running six weeks after NAB 2002.
Toby Wand, Divisional Event Director of Emap Communications, said: “The Production Show is produced with the industry for the industry.
“People come to the show to catch up on the latest innovations, to see and actually use the latest products on the market. By holding the event later on in the Spring calendar we can provide exactly that.”
Independent research commissioned by Emap Media highlighted that The Production Show was the key opportunity in the production industry calendar to provide a European launch pad for new products and services.
The research, carried out amongst 100 key suppliers and distributors to the production community including current exhibitors and non-exhibitors, revealed an overwhelming majority favoured the strategic move.
Toby Wand added: “After the US unveiling of products at NAB in April the Production Show provides the first opportunity in the UK for the European industry to show working examples of the hottest products and services. We’ve broadened the event’s appeal with the introduction of a new Audio Show and an integrated Broadband Solutions arena enhancing The Production Show as the premier UK event where creativity meets technology. The Show will continue to appeal to every member of the production team.”
The event is shaped and moulded by a Steering Committee representing all facets of the business from both an exhibitor and visitor perspective. The steering committee, inaugurated in 2001, has given the show clear definition about the dynamic needs of all those involved in the production and broadcast community.
Chaired by Chris Daubney of The Daubney Consultancy the committee includes: Jim Hart, Channel 4; Derek Owen, IABM; John Andrews, IBS; Stuart Fordham, Electronic Visuals; David Carr, M2; Adrian Scott, Autocue; Russell Fletcher, Snell & Wilcox; and Jon Baker, Broadcast.
Alongside the strategic shift in the calendar, The Production Show 2002 will introduce several new features that have been integrated to reflect actual industry demands. New features will include: The Audio Show, Broadband Solutions, Expanded Locations Village, free manufacturers workshops, and an Engineering Technology centre. (AMcE)
